5 Easy Ways to Practice Empowerment Now
To celebrate Passion Planner’s August theme of empowerment, this ambassador spent the entire month (quite literally — up until the last day) contemplating its importance.
2020 and 2021 were pivotal years for my mental health, and self-empowerment has been my focus. Therapy, school (enrolling in Writing and Healing), reading, and my support system of friends and family have all contributed to the following. Enjoy.
1. If you don’t feel empowered (supporting others and/or creating the life you’ve always wanted), don’t force it. Welcome the lack of empowerment into your life, sit with the discomfort, and ask what it needs from you the most right now.
Ex) Hi Fatigue! Welcome to my life! I greet you with open arms! What can I do for you today? What can you teach me? *Fatigue answers* Can you start sleeping earlier? I know Netflix is entertaining, but when you don’t give me enough sleep at the right time, I don’t have the energy to pursue all the things you want to and it’s frustrating for both of us. K, thnx, byez.
2. Open your phone and composing a new note. Nothing fancy. Just super cas. If you feel up to it, maybe draw a table with two columns. One is for things you can control. The other is for things you cannot control.
Ex) I can’t control COVID, if people wear masks, or get vaccinated. I CAN control how many times I go out, wash my hands, and stay 6 feet apart in public.
3. Call a friend, or me, because I’ll be there for you (clap clap clap clap). Family members qualify here too. You’ve got options. Ask them if there is something you can help them with. The human psyche is fascinating in that when we help others pursue their dreams, we feel more inspired to aspire after our own. In moderation, course. Don’t use this as a procrastination tool, like some of us…(Hint: some is me)
4. Skip the gym. Yes, for some of us, going to the gym does help us feel more empowered to make changes, especially when we can visually see them in our physical bodies. But if you’re like me and you don’t feel safe at the gym (or pretty much anywhere outside the comfort of your bed), here are alternate ways to reap the same benefits:
- Dance to your favorite clubbing song in your PJ’s
- Walk around the block for 5 mins
- Do an ab workout on YouTube
- Bonus from #3: Call a friend while pacing
5. Look at your Passion Planner Roadmap and make one small decision that works toward a goal. You don’t have to do it today (seriously don’t). Just make the decision, set the intention, and swim deeply in your why. Need a Passion Planner Roadmap? Download it for free here: https://passionplanner.com/free-downloads/
